Contractor Opportunities
Premium Business Services recruits transcriptionists who are production typists with excellent written language, spelling, and grammar skills, 80 to 100 wpm typing speed, and strong integrity and pride in their work. We have high expectations for contractor work. Contractors must work in Word and have access to e-mail.
We provide work on a per-project basis giving contractors flexibility in their work schedules. Contractors have the opportunity to work when they are available. If a contractor accepts a project, it must be completed on time in quality form. Contractors with high-quality performance and an excellent work ethic are called on most often.
Contractor Performance
Premium Business Services works hard to produce high-quality transcripts. We must receive excellent transcripts from our contractors. All contractors receive a Style Manual as well as notes for individual projects so that they have significant direction from the very beginning of their work.
Contractor performance is determined by quality of work, meeting deadlines, and the ability to produce transcripts from different kinds of projects. After this determination, contractors are assigned to specific tiers. First Tier A includes contractors whose work is done with superb, consistent quality and can be sent to clients and placed in our archives without proofing. First Tier B includes contractors whose work is done very well, but still needs to be proofed for minor corrections, and mentoring sessions may be required. Second Tier includes contractors whose work is good, but a complete proof and one or more mentoring sessions are required. Third Tier includes new contractors whose work requires a complete proof.
It is very important for contractors to take note of comments received after their work has been proofed. Contractors should clarify anything not understood in the comments sent to them. Premium Business Services expects contractors to improve their work every time a new transcript is prepared.
There is ample opportunity for contractors to move within the tiers. Hourly rates and the volume of work are determined by a contractor’s placement in the tier system. Our goal is to move contractors as quickly as possible. A contractor’s commitment and dedication to this effort determine this process.
Premium Business Services determines how long a project should take to complete. If a contractor needs more time to complete a project, the extra hours are considered the contractor’s training time and cannot be billed to Premium Business Services.
