Estimates
Transcription of recordings takes about four times the length of the source material. For example, a transcript from a one-hour recording would take about four hours to prepare.
Preparation of timecoded transcripts takes about five times the length of the source material. For example, a timecoded transcript from a one-hour recording would take about five hours to prepare.
The quality of the recording can affect turnaround time and total hours for preparation.
Turnaround Time
- Regular Rate: one week to ten days
- Expedited Rate: under a week
- Rush Rate: one to three days
Rates can be determined by size of the project and turnaround time. Projects booked in advance may be charged at a lower hourly rate. For example, if a project is booked in advance, to be completed in less than one week, it may be charged at the Regular Rate rather than the Expedited Rate.
Transcript Delivery
Most transcripts are sent to clients via e-mail. Transcripts can also be sent in printed notebook form, on disk, or on CD.
Sending Recordings to Premium Business Services
We accept audiotapes, CDs, videotapes, and DVDs. We also have an FTP site available for the upload of some digital file formats.
Digital recordings can be sent to our FTP site. We can accept .mp3, .wav, .wma, and some other digital file formats. Files in .mp3 format are preferred as they are small digital files. We can provide instructions for sending files to our FTP site.
For timecoded transcripts, we generally require DVDs with timecodes burned in and the corresponding audio either on standard audiotapes or digital files.
Tapes and DVDs can be sent to Premium Business Services via messenger or Federal Express. Premium Business Services will return tapes and DVDs via regular mail. Tapes and DVDs returned via Federal Express or messenger will be charged to the client's bill.
